LE VAISSEAU-COEUR

Directed by Cédric Delorme-Bouchard

List Title

Le Vaisseau-cœur transposes into light and movement the universes of two flagship works of twentieth-century choral music: The Litanies to the Black Virgin by Francis Poulenc and the Three Little Liturgies of the Divine Presence by Olivier Messiaen.

Director and scenographer Cédric Delorme-Bouchard orchestrates from these musical pieces an imposing ritual for 25 choristers, 30 musicians and 4 dancers where music, body and light unite in a kaleidoscopic ceremony. Presented at the opening of the season for Salle Bourgie of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, this performance-event takes its inspiration from the architecture of this former church converted into a performance hall, creating a customised work to celebrate its architecture and the origins of its sacred vocation.

" I'd rather talk about the direction. It's by Cédric Delorme-Bouchard, that genius of lighting, whose Lamelles I loved last year. He has a unique and original eye, and his mastery of lighting helps to refine his visual language and create tableaux, scenes and images that stay in our minds as much for their beauty as for their ingenuity. "

Marie-Claire Girard, Cambresis Theater

" There is in this style a stylization of movement combined with a harmony of colors and sounds that reach out to our soul and our heart. Le Vaisseau-cœur is a very beautiful moment of music and dance filled with gentleness and strength. "

Marie-Claire Girard , Théâtre Cambresis

"The audacity of Le Vaisseau-cœur deserves to be celebrated by the public during the two remaining performances."

Christophe Huss , Le Devoir
