CHAMBRE NOIRE

LES EMPLOYÉS
Based on the novel by Olgan Ravn
"Les employés is a short show of great precision, which redefines the stage space […] like never before. This essay on perceptions brings us back, like all of Cédric Delorme-Bouchard's works, to the fragility of the human experience."
Nathalie de Han, La Scena musicale

Adapted for the stage from the novel by Danish author Olga Ravn, The Employees is a captivating work imagined in a scenography of holograms and laser beams by director and designer Cédric Delorme-Bouchard.
Millions of miles from Earth, in the distant future, employees work on the six thousandth ship of a powerful space exploration corporation.
Aboard the crew are the humans, who nostalgically recall vague memories of what their lives on Earth used to be like and what they left behind. Then there are the look-alikes, flesh-and-blood beings, in every way similar to humans, but created in a laboratory, "born" as adults and who exist only for the purpose of productivity. When mysterious objects are brought aboard the ship, the fragile cohabitation between these two classes of employees cracks and descends into violence. What will be the solution to save the mission? Who will have to be sacrificed?
Through a fascinating lighting design, a scenography that is both stripped down and complex, and surgical staging, Cédric Delorme-Bouchard presents us with the sound and holographic archives of the last moments of a lost crew.
