Membrane is the first Chinese-language queer science fiction novel, written in 1995 by Taiwanese author Chi Ta-wei, a fervent advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. In a distant future where ecology has been disrupted by capitalism, the earth's surface is nothing but industries and battlefields. Humanity has had to settle in underwater cities where it has been able to reconnect with the pleasures of the mind and the flesh. Sexuality and gender have acquired an astonishing fluidity. As identities and bodies are constantly metamorphosing, a fundamental question arises: what defines the human being?

After Olga Ravn's The Employees last season, Cédric Delorme-Bouchard continues his approach to stage writing around futuristic universes with the Théâtre Prospero. The director and scenographer transposes this innovative text to the stage, in an adaptation marked by the sensitivity of Rébecca Déraspe. Between shadow and light, dystopia and utopia, the play, performed by six exceptional performers, explores with humanity the notions of identity and free will. A work that resonates powerfully with today's world.

"The director-scenographer-designer demonstrates the full extent of his talent. Mario Cloutier, Revue JEU

"Driven by magnificent scenography and lighting, a captivating sound ambiance, the production is overall very accomplished." Luc Boulanger, La Presse
